Social media is becoming a key component in most marketing strategies for most businesses. Here are some social media branding myths, how to build a social media brand, what is good social media branding, and how to improve your social media brand.

Myth #1: Social Media can make your Brand popular overnight.

This is a common scenario and we have seen many of our clients expect the same.

In fact, many of social media marketers are focused on getting their contents go viral on social media to attract as much likes as possible.

They want more and more people know their brand and engage with their brand in a little time without putting much effort, which is a blunder mistake.

It’s simply impossible in real life to get thousands and millions of followers or subscribers within few weeks in Instagram unless you are a celebrity. Similarly it’s almost impossible to get an unrealistic amount of likes and shares in your Facebook page within a short span of time.

Even if you manage to attract a huge number of followers, it’s not going to convert into sale. You will end up interacting with wrong audience and eventually it may hamper your brand image.

Try to build a real relationship with right audience with right content using social media.

Building brand over social media is not a get rich quick scheme. So don’t expect getting result over night. Try to understand the elements that help your brand a kick.

Landing your focus in wrong direction, may send an irrelevant message to your target audience or may not reach at your target audience.

Branding is a method to boost your sale by increasing the visibility, not the core sale process. You have limited time to spare with social media. So you have to use it quite wisely that you can get a good return of your time investment.

When you are ready to post any content over social media, it is obvious that you might be tempted to post it on each social media, but it usually work against you.

Because, all social media network is different in the algorithm and each social media sites having different sets of users and the objective is also different for different sites.

If you are a local business, Google My Business is a priority for you. If you are a freelancer, Instagram and Linkedin may be the choice of media. If you are running a B2B company, investing time in snapchat or pinterest may drain your time. In such cases twitter, facebook and instagram are the choice.

Your social media branding strategy should go in right direction and right type of people who would be interested in your business.

Myth #3: You need thousands of followers for Social Media Branding.

Building a huge number of social media followers is a trend now a days. But whether is it really needed for best result?

Do you really need a huge number of social media followers to boost your brand reorganization? The answer is a big “No”. Why?

As a business, your social media goal should be to leverage these platforms to build a connection with your customers, add value to their buying habits and lead generation.

Your brands popularity will not boost overnight. So you should have target to attract loyal customers who can relate with your products or services through your posts.

No doubt, you need more followers to generate more sales, as law of average works everywhere. But fake followers always landed with low matrix which will discourage you for further engagement.

One of the key advantage of lesser social media following is that, you can have a chance to understand your followers closely and create contents accordingly. The conversion rate will be high.

Myth #4: Social Media Branding is “Set Once and Forget”.

It is a fact that your social media activity is directly affects how people view your brand and reacts towards it.

If you want to be known as an influencer in your industry, you will have to be consistent in social media to showcase your brand’s professional aspect.

If you want your audience to see you a s a brand, you have to be responsive to them in every way and you need to solve their problems related to your niche.

You need to have followers in social media who would have engaged with your contents in terms of like, comment and share.

You need to be communicated by your audiences about their needs or problems and this is the opportunity to make them feel that they matters a lot to you by responding to their problems.

It doesn’t take much effort to be engaged with your social media followers, but it can leave a positive impact in their lives. It eventually build an unseen relationship with them, which may ended up with sales conversion. It also crack the algorithm of social media sites for more organic impressions.

By getting back to them, you not only show them respect, but also make them feel important which leads to more engagement with you and your brand.

Social media branding is a “No Return” strategy. So be careful and think twice before you start your journey in social media. If your audiences found you inactive, they may take a wrong impression very easily. This may even lead the people to unfollow you and forget your brand.

That’s why it is better to choose social media platforms wisely, to be consistent, attract the right audience and to be engaged with the audiences with value addition with your contents.
